Mustard Seed is excited to return to IESE to host a pitching competition centred on tech-driven businesses as part of the Doing Good Doing Well conference on February 24th. Mustard Seed is a London-based investor in early-stage enterprises whose portfolio includes luminaries such as Winnow, what3words, Beulah and Knok. We return to campus again seeking talented entrepreneurs who are committed to solving large societal issues leveraging technology.
The winning venture will receive a monetary prize of €500 and will be invited for a business plan workshop with Mustard Seed, as well as connecting with appropriate members from our network. The goal is to further the winner’s chances of becoming an investable enterprise. All ventures will be considered for potential investment by our team.

Ventures Director at Mustard Seed .
Teddy is a cornerstone of Mustard Seed as well as its Director of Ventures. Before joining Mustard Seed he served as Analyst at BlackRock in London, Research Assistant at the Yale School of Medicine and Research Fellow at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
Experiences include coordinating community partnerships for a urban agriculture start-up, leading a team of 200 student volunteers at the nationally recognized Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, teaching junior secondary school in the Central Region of Ghana and pursuing passion for the violin at the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Mozarteum and Smetana Hall.
Meritxell Ripoll Manuel

Degree in Economic Sciences, Executive Development Programme PDD by IESE and MBA by the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
She started her career in the United States, as business manager of the Spanish subsidiary of IUL, manufacturer of high technology instruments for the research sector. She later joined Accenture, where she worked on financial consulting and business strategy projects at leading companies such as Nestle, Nutrexpa, France Telecom, Nortel and Telia, among others.
In 2000 she joined "la Caixa" and worked for more than 8 years as Business Director and Commercial Director at e-laCaixa, a subsidiary company of “la Caixa” which has led the development and the expansion of its electronic channels: Internet, ATMs and mobiles.
In 2008, she was a member of the team that implemented the Transactional Banking business at CaixaBank. She also managed national networks of commercial teams and was also responsible for the business development area of Business and Entrepreneurs Banking.
Since February 2017 she is the Corporate Responsibility Director, leading the implementation of CaixaBank’s CSR Master Plan within the General Strategic Plan of the entity.

Software development background, started Media Net Software in 1995 and sold it 20 years later with 200+ engineers. In 1999, digitized two leading Spanish newspapers (Diario El País and Diario El Mundo) and consulted other newspapers in Argentina, Chile and the USA.
Board member and leading investor at Evoluciona, an online marketing agency serving companies such as Microsoft, BBVA, Fox, Antena 3 and more.
Co-founded BuyVIP, a private eCommerce site, sold to with revenues of €140m and operations in 7 countries, now known as Amazon BuyVip. Co-founded MNI Technology on Rails, an 80+ employees engineering company specialized in high-speed trains, cars and aeronautics.
Board member and leading investor at Skin Analytics, an e-health UK company specialized in skin cancer detection. Co-founder, investor and/or Director at several companies, ranging from iCloud services to food or real estate.

José is a digital health enthusiast and a corporate finance expert with the vision of ‘changing healthcare one city at a time’. Before setting up Knok, a doctor on-demand platform, José gathered a strong and diversified range of experiences from economics, corporate finance to transactions to business intelligence. He served as Head of the Finance Team at Sonae Industria SGPS as well as MD at Change Partners Corporate Finance and as Director of the wealth management company Belmiro de Azevedo Family Office.
José completed a degree in Management from the University of Oporto and a Mergers and Acquisition Programme from the University of Chicago.
Sofoklis Zymnis

Sofoklis is a tech enthusiast that has no knowledge of coding or programming. Before starting the MBA at IESE, he worked as an Analytical Lead at Google in the sales department, fighting to bring more revenue for Google through advertising. Along with his studies at IESE he is a director of the technology club, trying to transmit his energy and enthusiasm about the sector within the student community. He graduated from Athens University of Economics and Business with a degree in European and International Relations and Economics, without knowing why…Maybe he wanted to predict the future of Europe…Or Greece…Nobody will ever know…
